The Lincoln Stars are a Tier I ice hockey team in the United States Hockey League (USHL). The USHL is the only top tier junior hockey league in the United States and are sanctioned by USA Hockey. The league consists of 16 teams located in the Midwestern United States, for players between the ages of 16 to 10. The league is strictly amateur allowing former players to compete in NCAA collegiate hockey. The Stars are a member of the Western Conference and were established in 1996. Games are played in the Ice Box right on UNL’s campus, a 4,321 seat multi-purpose arena. Players come from all over the world to play from September to mid-April/May depending on a playoff run.
