Academic scholarships totaling $3,250 were recently awarded to local high school seniors with a record of academic success and achievements in Junior Achievement of Lincoln programs.  The Dan Remigio Scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Matt Foley, a senior at Lincoln Pius X Catholic High School; the Ken Carlson Scholarship of $1,000 was awarded to Alexander VanAckeren, a senior at Lincoln Pius X Catholic High School; the Pepsi-Cola Scholarship of $750 was awarded to Katie Wandzilak, a senior at Lincoln Southeast High School; and the John Ballew Scholarship of $500 was awarded to Lauren Hupf, a senior at Lincoln Pius X Catholic High School.

Junior Achievement’s economic education programs have been offered to Lincoln-area high school students for more than 42 years.  Through business efforts in partnership with education, JA empowers young people to own their economic success by educating and inspiring them to value free enterprise, understand business and economics, and be workforce ready.  Nearly 700 business volunteers and 21,000 elementary, middle and high school students are annually involved in the JA program in more than 80 Lincoln-area public and parochial schools.
