The Lied Center for Performing Arts’ 2014 Spring Season is in full swing with a variety of world class performances to please every artistic taste.
One of the most exciting groups to emerge in world music, the two-time GRAMMY® and Emmy Award-winning Soweto Gospel Choir will return to the Lied Center stage for the first time since 2008. Regarded as Nelson Mandela’s favorite vocal group, Soweto Gospel choir will perform one night only on March 25.
From the first note to the final breath, West Side Story soars as the greatest love story of all time. This revival, based on Tony Award®-winning librettist Arthur Laurents’ Broadway direction, will be performed during a variety of matinee and evening performances on April 4-5.
Brooklyn-based STREB, created by Elizabeth Streb and featured at the 2012 London Olympics, is a daredevil event that will nimbly weave dance, athletics, rodeo, the circus and Hollywood-style stunt work into one amazing live performance on April 11 at 7:30 PM.
Three-time GRAMMY® Award-winning jazz pianist Ramsey Lewis, known as “The Great Performer,” and singer/guitarist John Pizzarelli will perform their ultimate Nat King Cole tribute on April 23 at 7:30 PM.
The Lied Center’s 13-14 season closes with the Moscow Ballet Festival’s presentation of storybook favorite Cinderella with a single evening performance on May 1.
