NMPP Energy held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Oct. 11 to mark the completion of their new facility constructed by Hampton Enterprises at the corner of 84th Street and Glynoaks Drive in southeast Lincoln.
The 27,000 square-foot facility is home to the four organizations of NMPP Energy, a joint action agency that includes the Nebraska Municipal Power Pool (utility-related services), Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska (wholesale electric supply), National Public Gas Agency (wholesale natural gas supply) and the Public Alliance for Community Energy (retail natural gas supply). The organizations collectively serve 192 communities in six Midwest and Rocky Mountain states.
The new facility will provide long-term savings and offers improved workspace functionality for the 50 employees serving the four organizations. NMPP Energy’s move to its new building from downtown Energy Square is expected to save between $2.3 and 3.1 million in operating costs over 30 years. NMPP Energy has been based in Lincoln, although in several locations, since its formation in 1975.
