Open Harvest Co-op Grocery (openharvest.coop/seed) is seeking proposals from experienced artists for the design and digital rendering of a mural to be installed on the interior brick wall near the checkout of the co-op’s new location at 330 S. 21st St. in the Telegraph District.

The mural will celebrate the co-op’s 50-year history, our local ecosystem, community connections, and exciting future.

Designs should convey place, environmental and social responsibility, and feelings of belonging, hope, and progress. They must include sheaves of wheat and leaves, honoring Open Harvest’s logos and growth, and reflect southeast Nebraska’s natural beauty while affirming the co-op as a welcoming space.

Open Harvest has nourished Lincoln with local and natural foods since 1975 and remains the city’s only co-op grocery store, with more than 2,900 owners.

The project is open to all US-based artists 18 and older; local artists are encouraged to apply. To submit a proposal, email marketing@openharvest.coop with a resume or CV, written vision, sketches, up to five examples of past work, and at least two letters of recommendation (PDF). The deadline is Oct. 15, 2025. A co-op committee will review submissions, interview semifinalists, and select a finalist.
