With the changing of the seasons, Sumner Place is embracing the spring weather filled with fun activities to keep everyone busy. They are so excited to provide a mix of both outside and inside activities. Sumner Place would like to share some of the activities staff and residents participated in.

For Earth Day, Sumner Place had a plant show where team members and residents showed off their houseplants and gave tips and tricks on achieving a green thumb. At the end of the plant show, everyone got a mini plant to take: ferns and succulents were a hit.

Sumner Place recently held their annual Spelling Bee, focusing on the St. Patrick’s Day holiday as the theme. A mix of familiar and challenging words with the Irish themes at play made the Spelling Bee so unique this year. For the first time, they had a tie, meaning double winners took home the title of Sumner Place Spelling Bee Champion.

Of course, during the Easter holiday Sumner Place has a visit from the Easter bunny and an outside egg hunt. Children from the surrounding Sumner Place Community area were invited to participate in the egg hunt and see the Easter bunny.

They look forward to their next large event, which is their annual senior prom. This year’s theme is under the sea, equipped with professional photos for residents and their loved ones, live music, dancing and refreshments.

Please see updates weekly on their Facebook page to see what the Sumner Place community is up to, or stop in for a tour with their Admission’s Coordinator Janessa if your loved one is in need of long term skilled nursing care. You can also visit sumnerplacecare.com for more information.
