Sumner Place (sumnerplacecare.com) Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation recently held its annual Fall Picnic for residents and their families
on Thursday, Sept. 18. The event is a tradition that celebrates togetherness and fun over a meal.
Every year, Sumner Place chooses a theme for the picnic. This year’s Wild West theme featured exotic animals from Wildlife Encounters, including a joey kangaroo and a 3-banded armadillo. One team member also brought a miniature horse, which was a hit among the residents and their families.
The picnic featured partial catering, including fried chicken and a funnel cake truck, along with Sumner Place’s culinary team offering cheesy potatoes, green beans, and fresh lemonade and iced tea.
Great food and exotic animals were not the only entertainment at the picnic. Sumner Place had raffle baskets that were filled with goodies and handmade decorations for the fall season. These were given by residents’ family members and were auctioned off to raise funds for the Vetter Gives Foundation.
This foundation was formed by Vetter Health Services, Jack and Eldora Vetter, in 1992 to support various Christian organizations serving the less fortunate and to improve the quality of education in health care.
Sumner Place was thrilled to host the event and recognize the residents, families and community partners whose contributions made it so special.
