Cheever Construction is pleased to announce they were selected as the “Best of the Best” in the Institutional $5 to $10 million category for its work on the Friend Public Schools—Facilities & Gymnasium Addition for the 2010 Excellence in Construction awards competition conducted by the ABC Cornhusker Chapter (Association Builders and Contractors, Inc.). The awards banquet was held on February 10.
The 52,160 SF gymnasium is unique because load-bearing precast concrete wall panels were utilized as the foundation and finished walls for the building shell. Designed as a “top-loading” style, the playing surface is 11’-0 below exterior grade with locker rooms, wrestling and training rooms in the lower level.
