Nebraska Safety Council (NESC, nesafetycouncil.org) offers a Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED training the first Wednesday and Saturday of each month. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate showing they have completed an interactive course with a variation of lecture, video, group discussion, and hands-on training.

The course will teach first aid basics including medical, injury, poison, and environmental emergencies; preventing illnesses and injuries; and controlling bleeding and bandaging. Covered topics will include: using a tourniquet; shock; internal bleeding; burns and electrical injuries; allergic reactions; breathing problems and dehydration; diabetes and low blood sugar; heat-and cold-related emergencies; drowning; amputations; bites and stings; broken bones; sprains; splinters; nose bleeds; fainting; seizures; and injuries to the head, eyes, neck, spine, mouth, and teeth. The course will also cover Triaging, CPR, and AED use for adults, children, and infants, as well as adult, child, and infant choking. During the eight-hour course, participants will also be trained in Stop the Bleed and will receive a certificate for the training free of cost.

The full-day course fee is $85 for members and $90 for non-members. Upcoming trainings are scheduled for: July 6, July 9, August 3, August 6, September 3, September 7, October 5, and October 8.

NESC also offers a public First Aid, CPR, and AED training the first week each month. Upon completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate showing they have completed an interactive course with a variation of lecture, video, group discussion, and hands-on training.

Participants will leave empowered to handle emergency situations related to first aid, CPR, choking, and how to use an AED.

Topics covered include: following emergency procedures; preventing disease transmission; rescuing, moving, and positioning victims; caring for a variety of injuries and illnesses; assisting a choking victim; administering basic life support (CPR); and using an AED. This full-day course fee is $95 for members and $100 for non-members. Upcoming trainings are scheduled for: August 4, September 1, and October 6.
