Clubs and organizations have long held networking events to help businesses tell other people about their operations. Now a new way to network is being brought to Lincoln.
Midwest Speed Networking will hold its first event at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 13 at Red9 in Lincoln. Based on the popular concept of speed dating, speed networking will allow business people to have numerous short, three to four minute conversations with representatives of other businesses.

Here’s how it will work: business representatives will sit one-on-one with each other and engage in conversation, exchange business cards and obtain referrals. After a few minutes, a whistle will be blown and each representative will move on to a new contact, repeating the process.

Midwest Speed Networking was started by Tony and Lori Black of Lincoln, who also operate Midwest Speed Dating, a successful business that introduces singles to other singles. Speed networking has been taking place in other cities across the United States, but this will be the first such event in Lincoln.

Participants must register at www.midwestspeednetworking.com. The cost to participate is $15, which includes a complimentary beverage. Only two representatives from a particular industry will be allowed at each event.
