The Nebraska Recycling Council (NRC) (nrcne.org) held its Annual Conference on Tuesday, September 17. This event recognizes the accomplishments of member organizations and provides learning and networking opportunities for resource management professionals.
Dr. Elizabeth Chapman, Executive Director of Recycle Colorado shared insights on Colorado’s journey to pass Extended Producer Responsibility Legislation for packaging. Attendees learned about the challenges and successes faced by industry peers in Colorado as they worked to pass and implement this ground breaking legislation. The luncheon offered inspiration for the future of recycling and waste management in Nebraska. The conference also featured four sessions related to problem materials, legislation, compost and biochar, and recycling markets. Vendors in attendance included Nebraska Chapter of SWANA (Solid Waste Association of North America), First Star Recycling, and Casella Waste Systems.

- Green Team of the Year- Crossroads Mission
- Advocacy Champion of the Year- Senator Jana Hughes
- Commonwealth Award- Upper Loup NRD
- Member of the Year- Willa DiCostanzo and the City of Lincoln
- End Market of the Year – Prairieland Dairy
