29th Annual Kampout for Kids Raises $10K, New Toys for Community Action Programs
This winter, local businesses and community members alike stepped up to support the 29th annual Kampout for Kids, an annual event sponsored by 104.1 The Blaze to support Community Action (www.communityactionatwork.org) Proceeds for the December 2021 Kampout for Kids totaled over $10,000, in addition to the hundreds of new, unwrapped toys for children to enjoy throughout the winter holiday season.
The 2021 Kampout for Kids featured a live radio broadcast at Spike’s Beach Bar and Grille, a toy donation drive, an opportunity to purchase badges from local Stop ‘N Shop locations, an online silent auction, and the Lincoln Stars’ annual Teddy Bear Toss. This year, additional partner Westlake Ace Hardware joined the event by offering a ten-day opportunity for customers to round up their purchases in support.
“We are incredibly grateful for the kindness, generosity, and support of The Blaze, Westlake Ace Hardware, and all of our community partners and supporters who came together to make Kampout for Kids a success,” said CEO Heather Loughman.
Dollars raised from Kampout for Kids will support Community Action’s mission to empower people living in poverty to reach economic stability. Its programs and services address the causes and conditions of poverty in four impact areas: early childhood education, homelessness prevention, financial and family well-being, and hunger relief and healthy food access. Community Action serves residents of Lancaster and Saunders Counties. To learn more, visit www.communityactionatwork.org.
