A Warmer Day Distributed More than 300 Coats, Gloves, Hats, Scarves
In their first clothing distribution since COVID raised its ugly head, A Warmer Day (awarmerday.org) distributed more than 300 winter coats, gloves, hats, and scarves to Lincoln families on September 26. In an environment where record numbers of residents are trying to rebound from financial hardships brought on by the pandemic, the need for coats and warm clothing quickly rose to the top of the list of needs heading into winter. Families started lining up 90 minutes before the distribution was scheduled at Southview Christian Church.
The distribution was a powerful testimony to the needs in our community to see so many people go through the line and leave with smiles on their faces, knowing that they and their children were prepared for the cold winter ahead. Of course, the needs in the community are ongoing, so A Warmer Day is seeking additional donations of warm winter outerwear, so they can warm the bodies and hearts of as many underprivileged children and families as possible.
A Warmer Day is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization dedicated to helping Nebraskans in need get coats, gloves, mittens, and scarves. They have collection points in Lincoln, Omaha, Beatrice, and Clatonia where they gather donated items, have them cleaned, and distribute them. To find the collection location nearest you, visit awarmerday.org, where you also can make a cash contribution and know that every penny will go toward A Warmer Day’s mission to help those in times of need.
