The Foundry (thefoundry.co)is advancing its impact through this summer’s STEM-focused 2026 Intern Foundry (IF) cohort, intentionally designed to connect high-achieving UNL Honors students with local organizations for high-impact projects in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Each summer, the Intern Foundry focuses its internship projects on an area of community need that reinforces Nebraska’s long-term vitality. Last summer’s cohort was themed around Health and Sustainability, empowering students to complete impactful projects across various sectors and scopes.
Respected partners such as Black Hills Energy and Lincoln Electric System reported measurable value from their interns’ contributions and plan to return to the program.
This year’s STEM focus continues IF’s mission of supporting innovation and problem-solving in industries that drive Nebraska’s economic and technological future. By connecting bright, passionate students with organizations, IF helps build the talent pipeline Nebraska needs to remain resilient. Participating organizations will not only gain talented capacity, but also contribute to something bigger. They will be directly investing in Nebraska’s talent retention and collective resilience.
Nebraska’s future is full of potential, and we’d love for you to be a part of it. Organizations interested in hosting a Summer 2026 intern should connect with Haley (Summer IF Coordinator) at (haley@thefoundry.co) before November 26th. Together, we can build strength and resiliency in our state that lasts for generations.
