January is “National Mentoring Month” and TeamMates Mentoring of Lincoln (LincolnTeamMates.org) is looking for local businesses that would like to host recruitment presentations for their staff. While TeamMates currently has over 1,300 active matches, hundreds of additional students await a mentor. TeamMates provides youth in grades three-12 with a one-to-one adult mentor who provides support and encouragement. In-person and virtual mentoring are available depending on the student and mentor’s circumstances.
“Our partnerships with businesses are fundamental to our success as an organization. We have some great partners, but would love to add more this year,” says Jim Bennett, Director for TeamMates of Lincoln. “Businesses benefit from volunteering by uplifting the community, and by doing so, they can demonstrate the mission and values of their company.”
There are tremendous benefits to a company’s workforce and productivity as well. TeamMates surveys participants annually, and results continuously reveal that after their mentoring visit, mentors return to work more engaged, hopeful and in a better mood.
“January is a great time to get started, for both the mentor and the student”, said Bennett.
