Community Action’s (www.communityactionatwork.org) Gathering Place soup kitchen needs warm clothing items for its guests. Nebraska weather is notorious for changing quickly, and Community Action wants to ensure guests are prepared for those frigid temperatures. Currently, the most-needed items are hand warmers, socks, gloves and hats – all of which can be donated to Community Action.
“Providing warmth to Gathering Place guests helps them navigate their everyday life,” said Lisa Janssen, Gathering Place Administrator. “From catching the bus, to walking kids to school, to grabbing a to-go dinner at the Gathering Place, proper winter gear makes life a little easier on our Lincoln community. It’s a small thing that helps combat the complications winter can add to daily life.”
Winter items can be dropped off Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Community Action’s office at 210 O St. in Lincoln. You can also visit Community Action’s website to order from the agency’s Amazon wish list and ship directly to Community Action.
Groups, businesses, or organizations interested in organizing a donation drive should contact Sam Bates at sbates@communityactionatwork.org or (402) 875-9320.
