DreamCatchers Ride Offers Volunteer Mentors the Opportunity to Horse Around
If you’re a Big Brother, Big Sister, Scout leader, after-school program coordinator, or any other youth mentor, DreamCatchers Ride, Inc. (dreamcatchersride.org) is offering up an opportunity for a fun and meaningful outing with your mentees! Whether one-on-one or in groups of ten or fewer, DreamCatchers will introduce your mentee to their horses, allow them to spend time grooming and petting them, giving them snacks, and—with a signed parental-consent form—give them the opportunity for a brief ride.
Horse programs are the perfect outdoor activity for social distancing. Individual sessions take place at the DreamCatchers facility, southwest of Lincoln and, for groups, they can bring the horse to you or arrange a session at their facility. The nonprofit organization maintains a health-conscious policy that it follows strictly: Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required, and DreamCatchers will provide a helmet for youth if they even sit on a horse.
Born from Executive Director Jodi Freeman’s lifelong love for horses, DreamCatchers Ride, Inc. provides connection, care, and compassion to Lancaster County youth who would not otherwise have the opportunity to develop a bond with horses. DreamCatchers provides a safe place where, through learning about equine companionship and care, youth can be comfortable and able to express themselves. For more information or to schedule an outing, visit dreamcatchersride.org, contact Jodi at (402) 679-3996 / jodi@dreamcatchersride.org, or follow them on Facebook (@DreamCatchersRide).
