FCA Prepares for Weekend of Champions November 3-4
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA; www.nebraskafca.org) is looking forward to their annual Weekend of Champions which is to be hosted by Grand Island High School on November 3-4. FCA’s Weekend of Champions dates back to the early 70’s. Last year, over 1,000 students and adults from across the state attended. It is high school students, college athletes, coaches, and volunteers who invade the school for the FCA Weekend of Champions. They come for great friendships, for competition, and to hear the Gospel proclaimed. They leave excited to take that passion and message back to their families, teams, and schools.
Over the years, the Weekend of Champions has developed into FCA’s signature event. During their main assemblies, attendees will hear the Gospel preached through the main speaker who is still to be announced. Musical Worship will be led by the band, VOTA. Saturday night students will have the chance to attend Buzz Groups covering interesting topics such as, “How to Know Christ,” “How to Grow in Christ,” Sexual Purity,” and “Doing Sports God’s Way.”
Coaches and all adults are welcome and strongly encouraged to be a part of the weekend at no charge. Adult sessions and children’s programming will be held throughout the weekend.
The cost of the event is $45/person before October 29 and $55/person after. To learn more about the local FCA chapter organization, visit their website www.nebraskafca.org. To learn more about this event, contact Chris Denney at (402) 464-2343.
