Foster Care Closet Receives $1K from Young Building Professionals for Car Seats
The Foster Care Closet (www.fostercarecloset.org) recently received a gift of $1,000 from the Young Building Professionals (YBP) that will help keep children safe through the purchase of new car seats. Through a partnership with a manufacturer, Foster Care Closet will be able to use the check to buy 20 car seats at a significantly reduced cost that can be used by foster families.
YBP gave The Foster Care Closet the opportunity to be the beneficiary of their yearly Christmas in July party fundraiser. The Home Builders Care Foundation matched the YBP funds collected, for a total of $1,000. This gift is especially important because there are no programs available in Nebraska to obtain free car seats, though Nebraska law states that all children five years old and under must be transported in a federally approved car seat. When children enter foster care, they don’t bring anything with them, and not all foster parents have a car seat available for the child they take in. This check will allow foster families and children to travel safely and feel secure.
The mission of The Foster Care Closet of Nebraska is to help restore dignity to children entering foster care. They allow them to enter their new foster home fed, clean, and clothed. To learn more about The Foster Care Closet of Nebraska, visit www.fostercarecloset.org.
