This September, adventurous fundraisers and corporate sponsors raised over $90,000 for Heartland Big Brothers Big Sisters (HBBBS). With support from Union Bank & Trust, HBBBS hosted Lincoln’s first charity rappelling event, Over the Edge to support Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring in Lincoln.
Seventy-two “Edgers” took on the challenge and rappelled down 16 stories from the roof of the Holiday Inn Downtown. VIP rappellers from Union Bank & Trust, Russ’s Market, Scheels and the Holiday Inn as well as Gary from Froggy 98 and Luke Dorris from KLKN-TV kicked off the two day event. More than 20 volunteers made the event possible, helping Edgers check-in, rappel and celebrate in the Landing Zone party.
Every day Heartland Big Brothers Big Sisters is helping youth to overcome challenges. The agency pairs youth with a caring Big Brother or Big Sister mentor. Big Brothers and Big Sisters help youth to improve in school and at home. Learn more about Heartland Big Brothers Big Sisters at www.hbbbs.org.
