Habitat for Humanity Puts Creative Spin on Giving Tuesday with Giving TOOLSDay

Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln (www.lincolnhaitat.org/TOOLSDay) is putting its own twist on the international day of giving, Giving Tuesday, where communities come together for one purpose: to celebrate generosity and give to charities, with Giving TOOLSDay. Giving TOOLSDay will kick-off the holiday giving season as a one-day campaign on Tuesday, December 1, with a focus on raising funds for new tools and supplies used by volunteer groups and skilled construction crews. These tools and supplies include essential everyday items like nails, screws, and paint—tools that need updated after plenty of use such as hammers, drills, levels, and framing nail guns; as well as a wish list of tools that would enhance construction productivity.

“Giving TOOLSDay kicks off the charitable season, when many people focus on their end-of-year giving,” says Habitat Lincoln CEO, Josh Hanshaw. “With a one-day campaign focused on purchasing and updating our tools and supplies, it provides donors of any level a way to participate. Donations of any amount help us purchase the tools and supplies that are important for us to continue our mission of building and repairing affordable homes in our community.”

To date, Habitat for Humanity of Lincoln has built or repaired more than 170 homes; serving more than 775 local individuals and nearly as many globally through Habitat International’s tithe program, serving approximately 1,500 individuals.
