After a record-breaking first year, raising $87,157.62 to support maternal and infant healthcare in Malawi, Africa, local business leaders are bringing back Chips for Change for its second year — and aiming even higher.
On January 24, 2026, from 5:30 to 10 p.m., the South Lincoln Morrow Collision Center will transform into a lively casino night for a cause, hosted by Renee Sobotka (True North Technologies) and Sara Mach (SERVPRO). The evening will feature casino gaming tables, dinner, and live and silent auctions, all to benefit Child Legacy International (CLI).
Last year’s event helped fund CLI’s neonatal center, providing lifesaving care for complicated deliveries. This year, the goal is to establish a pediatric unit equipped to treat a wide range of illnesses affecting Malawian children, most notably malaria. For the past nine years, CLI has been delivering babies in one of the most underserved regions in the world, dramatically reducing maternal and infant mortality rates. Now, they’re taking the next step: creating a hospital space dedicated to caring for those same children as they grow and face new health challenges.
“This community came together in such an incredible way last year,” said Renee Sobotka, event co-host. “We saw firsthand how the money raised can change and save lives. This year, we’re inviting even more people and businesses to join us in building a healthier future for Malawi’s children.”
The organizers are currently seeking corporate sponsors and auction item donations to help reach the fundraising goal. Businesses and individuals interested in partnering can contact Renee Sobotka at (402) 968-5068 or renee.sobotka@outlook.com.
