Matt Talbot Expands Housing Program to Serve 60 Additional Households
Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (mtko.org) has expanded its programming to serve 60 additional households, using evidence-based practices for securing stable housing for the homeless. Their new COVID Rapid Rehousing Project is providing housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness during the pandemic. Clients work with a case manager from Matt Talbot or a partnering agency to set goals and develop a housing plan. Once housed, they receive rental assistance for up to six months. They have identified and assisted 48 households through this project, which is funded through the CARES Act.
First HOPE is a permanent supportive housing program for those experiencing chronic homelessness. This program has been serving 15 individuals and four families, but Matt Talbot recently received additional funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to serve an additional 10 households. Clients identify housing through Matt Talbot’s Landlord Liaison Project, which forms partnerships between landlords, consumers, and case managers to address the critical need for affordable housing for the homeless in Lincoln. To learn about becoming a partnering landlord, please contact Retha Knapp at retha.knapp@mtko.org.
Since 1992, Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach has been dedicated to spreading dignity and love throughout their mission of comprehensively addressing the needs of the homeless and near-homeless. For more information or to request assistance, visit mtko.org or call (402) 477-4116.
