In an effort to increase the awareness and understanding of those experiencing homelessness during the wintertime, Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (mtko.org) will be holding its first Shine the Light Walk on Sunday, December 10, at Antelope Park at 5 p.m. This one-mile walk is an opportunity to learn what homelessness looks like in the winter and how everyone can help. If interested in sponsoring the event or registering to walk, please visit mtko.org or contact Jenn Boettcher at jenn.boettcher@mtko.org.

Additionally, Matt Talbot is preparing for the cold days ahead by asking for donations of hand and foot warmers, tents, blankets, sleeping bags and large or extra-large men’s winter gloves and hats. The Outreach team at Matt Talbot is already receiving an influx of requests for these necessary winter items. If you are interested in holding a drive at your business or school to collect needed items, please contact Lori Wellman, Director of Development, at (402) 817-0621 for more information. Donations can be dropped off Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. or by appointment.

For the past 31 years, Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach has been helping individuals and families facing poverty and homelessness find possibilities when things seem impossible. Learn more at mtko.org.
