Mourning Hope Plans to Host Two Grief Seminars in March
The Mourning Hope Grief Center (mourninghope.org), in partnership with HoriSun Hospice Community Foundation, Southeast Community College, the Lincoln/Lancaster County LOSS Team, and the Lincoln/Lancaster County Suicide Prevention Coalition, is excited to host “Grief After Suicide: Finding Hope and Healing” on Monday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Southwood Lutheran Church and “Suicide Bereavement Clinician Training,” on Tuesday, March 24, at 8:30 a.m. at the Jack J. Huck Continuing Education Center at Southeast Community College. The seminars will both be led by Jack Jordan, Ph.D., a licensed psychologist who has worked with survivors of suicide and other traumatic losses for more than 45 years.
“Grief After Suicide: Finding Hope and Healing” will address the factors that contribute to suicide, the impact of bereavement on individuals and the family, some of the myths of grief recovery, things that survivors can do to help themselves, and when to seek professional help. This workshop is appropriate for those grieving the loss of someone to suicide, those who wish to support a grieving survivor, and for professional caregivers such as therapists and clergy who are working with suicide loss survivors. This event is free and open to the public, but pre-registration is required due to limited seating. To register, visit mourninghope.org/newsandevents.
“Suicide Bereavement Clinician Training” is a continuing education seminar that will equip professionals with the most recent information in the field. Register online at southeast.edu/continuing. The registration fee includes lunch and CEU’s.
