Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen officially proclaimed September 15–21 as National Diaper Need Awareness Week in Nebraska (nebraskadiaperbank.org), highlighting the importance of diaper access for families across the state. Days earlier, Lincoln Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird signed a proclamation for the City of Lincoln during a diaper wrap with Nebraska Diaper Bank at the Center for People. Her participation emphasized the essential role diapers play in children’s health and family stability.
The lack of a sufficient supply of clean diapers is a hidden crisis that affects one in three families in Nebraska. Without access, parents may be forced to miss work or school, and babies risk health complications from remaining in soiled diapers too long.
Nebraska Diaper Bank distributes 300,000 diapers each month to more than 5,000 children through a network of partner organizations across the state. As a proud member of the National Diaper Bank Network, NDB works to ensure every baby has the basics needed to thrive.
