This year, the Free Dental Clinic at People’s City Mission (PCM, pcmlincoln.org) has welcomed back pre-dental college students and dental students to get hands-on experience and training with dental assistance. This has been an exciting opportunity for them since Covid affected so much of the actual procedures they would have traditionally experienced as part of their education.

The clinic has been providing dental care at no cost to the uninsured and underinsured since 2009. In 2022, over 1,200 patients were helped. Each of the doctors and dental assistants volunteer their time for this necessary and oftentimes life changing service.

People’s City Mission was started in 1907 by local churches, offering food and shelter for transient and impoverished men, women and children. In 1987, PCM moved to their current location and now houses 350 men, women and children nightly in their emergency shelters and the Curtis Center transitional housing program. As Lincoln’s homeless shelter, People’s City Mission’s work is more than 97% funded by community donations. For more information or to donate, visit pcmlincoln.org.
