The $5 Bits of Broken Chair Trophy (brokenchairtrophy.com) is back for its ninth year of fundraising as Nebraska heads to Minnesota on October 17 to face the Golden Gophers.
What started as a lighthearted rivalry between fan bases has grown into a powerful tradition, raising nearly $175,000 since 2017 for two incredible causes.
- Team Jack Foundation – funding pediatric brain cancer research
- University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital – supporting the Casey O’Brien Team One Four Infusion Center
Transformation Fund This fan-led effort brings Husker and Gopher supporters together off the field to make a real difference. Every donation, big or small, helps advance the missions of Team Jack and Team One Four. “The Broken Chair Trophy game is an important piece of our annual fundraising, and one of our favorites,” said Kylie Dockter, executive director of the Team Jack Foundation. “Pediatric brain cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children, and research is severely underfunded. With recent federal funding cuts, the role of nonprofits like Team Jack is more critical than ever. Husker Nation’s dedication, shown through the Broken Chair fundraiser and so much more, empowers us to keep advancing research and hope for kids battling brain cancer.”
