Vision Maker Media (visionmakermedia.org) and the Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center are proud to continue the Native American Film Series. Every second Monday at the Ross Film Theatre, located at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, a series of historic films from Vision Maker Media’s archives will screen each month beginning Monday, January 6. The Native film series is free and open to the public. The series honors founding executive director Frank Blythe’s vision to illuminate and educate audiences about Native people’s lives and experiences in a contemporary context. Stories highlight leaders in history, athletics, art, music, youth, and more from Native communities around the country.

Opening the 2025 Native American Film Series on January 6 is Racing the Rez. Navajo cross-country runners from two rival high schools put it all on the line for pride, triumph, and glory in the name of identity and hard work. Win or lose, the lessons learned interestingly impact the team’s lives. A Q&A session will immediately follow the screening with filmmaker Brian Truglio. Screening begins at 7:15 p.m. at the Ross Theatre located in Lincoln, NE. This screening is free and open to the public. Check the schedule at theross.org.
