The Safe and Together Institute is an in-person and virtual training program with learning materials consisting of domestic abuse and child welfare. They base their training off a model made up of three principles; the first one being to keep the child(ren) safe and together with the non-offending parent to provide safety, stability and nurturance. As well as partnering with non-offending parent as a default position and intervening with perpetrator to reduce risk and harm to the child(ren). The model is crucial for advocates on the Family Services team at Voices of Hope (voicesofhopelincoln.org) as it helps provide the appropriate language to use when working directly with clients. Overall, the model is trauma-informed, survivor-centered, and has the goal of holding perpetrators accountable.
