Voices of Hope Trains Crisis Line Volunteers
Each year, Voices for Hope (www.voicesofhopelincoln.org) holds three training sessions to equip new volunteers to help operate their 24-hour crisis line. Each session includes 34 hours of education, information and practice for the volunteers. The most recent session took place May 7 – 11 and was attended by eight new volunteers. Voices of Hope depends on volunteers to keep its crisis line available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The next session will be held in September. To apply to volunteer, contact Lindsey Parsons, volunteer coordinator, at LindseyP@voicesofhopelincoln.org.
Voices of Hope’s primary focus is on crisis intervention services for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and related forms of abuse. When working with individuals who come to them for help, their immediate priorities are the safety and empowerment of the victims and their families.
