The Mediation Center of Lincoln (themediationcenter.org) would like to announce the addition of new board member, Dr. Bonnie Hotz-McMahon, to its executive committee. Dr. Hotz-McMahon has served as a mediator at The Mediation Center since 2016.
Prior to her retirement from Lincoln Public Schools in 2014, she was a classroom teacher, district cadre, and administrator for 39 years. During her career in education, she spearheaded the development of a parent volunteer program at Beattie Elementary School and served on the LPS Ventures in Partnership (VIP) program, promoting positive school-community relationships. She received the Lincoln Benefit Life and Lincoln Journal Star “A+ Educator Award” and the VIP “Outstanding Liaison Award” during this time.
She volunteers with The Junior League of Lincoln and YWCA, both of which she represented on the Chamber of Commerce Education Committee’s “Take A Break” program.
With her lifetime commitment to volunteerism and her decade of experience in mediation, Dr. Hotz-McMahon eagerly joins TMC’s executive committee with the goal of “…promot[ing] peaceful and effective dialogue for dispute resolution in our Lincoln community.”
The Mediation Center is one of six community centers in Nebraska approved and regulated by the Nebraska Office of Dispute Resolution. Each year, the Center supports hundreds of individuals and families facing challenges such as poverty, violence, divorce, eviction, property disputes, foster care placement and substance abuse.
