Legacy Retirement Communities (legacyretirement.com) is excited to share that Emily Sherman was selected as a $1,000 scholarship recipient by the Coalition for Older Adult Health Promotion (COAHP). Emily has worked with seniors for two years. She is a second-year nursing student at Bryan College of Health Sciences. She currently works as an RA/CNA at Legacy Arbors, assisting residents with daily tasks and activities. Her personal mission is to “provide a safe, welcoming and comfortable environment for residents” at Legacy Arbors.

Emily says that being able to give back to the senior community is a special opportunity as seniors have such wisdom and character to share. Emily received two letters of recommendation, including one from Renee Pickerel, Executive Director at Legacy Arbors. Renee wrote, “Emily is an individual who is not only compassionate and caring, but also has an incredible knack for navigating difficult situations. She is self-assured and genuinely interested in helping others. She provides excellent patient care and is always looking out for the patient and their rights.” She says she plans to use this scholarship to help pay for her nursing degree, as well as broaden her service for seniors.
