Executive Director of Community Action Vi See Announces Retirement
Following over 13 years of service at Community Action Partnership of Lancaster and Saunders Counties (www.communityactionatwork.org), Vi See, executive director, has announced her plan to retire. Her last day at the agency will be in October.
Community Action has a longstanding history within the Lincoln community. Born from the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 and established in Lincoln the following year, the agency has seen much growth and change. Throughout her tenure, See collaborated with five separate board presidents to enact Community Action’s mission to empower people living in poverty to reach economic stability.
Under See’s leadership, the agency realized significant growth and success, including establishment of three high-quality early childhood education centers in Lincoln, expansion and addition of new programs, an agency re-brand, and increased partnerships within the community, among many other accomplishments. Community Action was also named a “Best Place to Work” four years in a row during See’s tenure.
In 2020, Community Action provided 107,854 poverty-fighting services to 17,940 individuals. See has overseen provision of the agency’s 17 programs within the impact areas of Early Childhood Education, Homelessness Prevention, Financial and Family Well-Being, and Hunger Relief and Healthy Food Access.
Every year, Community Action serves over 17,000 individuals in Lancaster and Saunders Counties. To learn more about Community Action, or to volunteer or give, visit www.communityactionatwork.org.
