Husker Rehab Recognizes Dr. Michelle Spicka for Becoming a Birth Healing Specialist
Husker Rehabilitation & Wellness (www.huskerrehab.com) would like to congratulate Michelle Spicka, DPT for completing the coursework to become a Birth Healing Specialist through the Institute for Birth Healing. Michelle has been at Husker Rehab since 2006. In addition to treating neurologic and orthopedic patients, she specializes in pelvic physical therapy.
As a part of the certification process to become a Birth Healing Specialist, Michelle completed courses on holistic treatment of the pregnant and postpartum body, which included lots of hands-on skills, anatomy review, understanding pelvic mechanics for birth, and knowledge of the pregnant body for birth and the postpartum body for recovery. She learned how to work with the emotional, energetic, and physical aspects of the body for a more complete healing of issues.
Up to 80% of women will have lingering issues after the birth of their child, but many will not seek treatment. Low back pain, incontinence, pelvic pain, constipation, diastasis recti, and abdominal pain are all symptoms of musculoskeletal dysfunction that a pelvic physical therapist can treat. Husker Rehab believes that all women deserve to rehab their pelvic floor and abdominal muscles after pregnancy and birth!
