Joel Green of Robber’s Cave Tours (www.robberscavetours.com) won the Tom Lorenz Tourism Development Award at the 2023 Celebrate Business Awards. Green has been giving daily tours for the past seven years. The Tourism Development Award recognizes the business that has showed creativity in the development of Lincoln’s tourism industry. Green has worked to bring the legend of Robber’s Cave back into not only Lincoln’s mind, but to those outside of the community as well, including bands, athletes and movie stars! A landmark cave full of history and plenty of stories, Robber’s Cave is open to tours year-round.

Green has utilized his expertise in public relations, along with his writing talents, to transform Robber’s Cave from a vacant lot that was nearly bulldozed to one of the top tourism destinations in the state (Robber’s Cave Tours won the 2022 Outstanding Tourism Attraction of the Year in 2022).

Green also was able to get Robber’s Cave Tours selected as a Nebraska Passport location in 2021, and he was ecstatic when he learned that Robber’s Cave was to be included in Atlas Obscura’s popular app that features some of the most unique places in the world. (Atlas Obscura is a “New York Times” Best seller).

Green published Robber’s Cave: Truths, Legends, Recollections, which would go onto win a Nebraska Book Award in 2019.
