The Nebraska Safety Council (NESC, nesafetycouncil.org) continues to expand their team so they can best serve the state of Nebraska. As the team continues to grow, new services and offerings will be added.

“We are excited to welcome these three fantastic people to our growing team,” says John Lefler, Jr. “The expansion of the Nebraska Safety Council is about people and the ideas and energy they bring to help us best meet the needs of our members as well as other businesses and organizations throughout Nebraska.”

NESC is welcoming the following team members to help support their mission of empowering Nebraskans to live safe and healthy:

Kelsey Pruss, MS – wellness services manager: Kelsey joined the Nebraska Safety Council in 2023 and brings 14 years of experience in health and wellness. She specializes in program development, education, health coaching and operations management. In her free time, you can find her chasing her daughters and dog around, exercising, reading and enjoying the outdoors.

Eli Haschke – administrative coordinator: Eli Haschke recently started at NESC in 2023. She has experience working in the retail industry where she gained the skills to connect with the public and brings a consistent positive attitude to the team. She spends her free time making art, cuddling with her cats and being with her loved ones.

Kirk Van Pelt – road safety specialist: Kirk was raised on a farm and ranch in western Nebraska. He attended Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) and the University of Wyoming. He worked as a professional photographer while being an assistant instructor at WNCC. He spent 30 years in law enforcement as chief deputy sheriff and deputy director of emergency management. He has worked as a contracted instructor for NESC since 1998. Kirk is married and has two sons.
