Sumner Place Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation (www.sumnerplacecare.com) is honored to announce that three of their team members were each awarded a $1,000 Vetter Senior Living Scholarship: Shelly LeFever, Makenna Sheldon, and Shelbie Bolinger. All team members gathered in Sumner’s lobby area on December 13, 2018 for a celebration. Larry Van Hunnik, administrator of Sumner Place, presented them with their awards.

Shelly LeFever has been an licensed practical nurse for the past 19 years. She has work for Vetter Senior Living for a total of 15 years. Shelly is currently attending Metropolitan Community College to pursue becoming a registered nurse. Not only is Shelly the assistant director of nursing for The Loft, she is also the infection prevention nurse, quality assurance nurse, and has implemented an Antibiotic Stewardship Program at Sumner Place.

Makenna Sheldon is the staffing coordinator. She started working at Sumner Place about four years ago as a certified medication aide and certified nursing assistant. Makenna is currently attending Southeast Community College in Lincoln for long-term care administration. She is an organizer who visualizes results and directs her resources for the successful completion of her personal and professional ambitions.

Shelbie Bolinger has been working at Sumner Place for four years. She started as a certified nursing assistant. After an opportunity in the restorative department became available, Bolinger began her current role as a restorative aide. Shelbie is also attending Southeast Community College in Lincoln for long-term care administration. Shelbie is naturally caring and empathetic as she invests whatever is necessary to heal the needs and concerns of others.
