Toastmasters District 24 to Feature Three Dignitaries at Annual Conference

Toastmasters District 24 (d24tm.org) is pleased to announce that their Annual Conference will be held Friday, April 17 through Sunday, April 19, at the Cornhusker Marriott Hotel in Lincoln. With the theme, Team COURAGE, the conference will feature various sessions on communication and leadership skills, state-level speech contests, and a special awards luncheon.

During the awards luncheon on April 18, Toastmasters District 24 will present the Toastmasters Communication & Leadership Award to Dr. Tom Osborne in recognition of substantial contributions in the areas of communication and leadership over the course of his career. His 25 years as a successful coach of the University of Nebraska football team, as well as several years as athletic director, three terms serving as U.S. Congressman in the House of Representatives from Nebraska’s 3rd Congressional District, and the impact he has made as co-founder of the TeamMates mentoring program are a testament to his communication and leadership in serving the citizens of Nebraska.

The keynote speaker of the conference will be Larry Marik, Toastmasters International Director, who has been a Toastmaster since 2007. Marik has held several high-profile leadership positions within Toastmasters and has attained the Distinguished Toastmaster designation, the highest level of educational achievement in the organization.

The featured speaker for the conference will be Johnny Campbell, Accredited Speaker (AS). The Accredited Speaker is a designation by Toastmaster International, currently awarded to only 87 professional speakers in the world, for excellence in public speaking. Johnny’s presentation will focus on how people can embrace change and win. Based on Campbell’s past experiences and results at helping people overcome their challenges and succeed in businesses he is called: “The Transition Man.”
