Waterford Honors Christy Merritt for Five Years of Exemplary Administrative Service
Waterford Communities (www.thewaterford.net) Owner Dan Klein, Jr. recently recognized Christy Merritt for more than five years of exemplary service as executive director of Waterford properties. Christy is moving on to a new opportunity, but her tireless efforts and accomplishments in guiding the company’s three senior-living communities during the last five years provide a strong base upon which her successor can build. Christy started as administrator at Waterford’s Williamsburg assisted-living community five and a half years ago and was quickly promoted to administrator of all three Waterford communities just six months later.
“Christy came to us with no senior-living experience and had a background in retail buying and therefore experience with finances, teams and marketing,” said Dan. “About six months later, we decided to reorganize our leadership of the Waterford Communities and hire an executive director over all three Lincoln Waterford facilities. Christy applied and was offered that role. She has a heart of compassion for the elderly and did us all proud.”
In her time as executive director, Christy had overall operational responsibilities for all the Waterford Communities and their teams, and she helped create symmetry and collaboration between each campus rather than “segmented” operations at each one. At the end of March, Christy took a position as a district director of operations over a number of facilities with Brookdale, a national senior living organization in Phoenix AZ, and is excited to be near her two grandchildren. For the short term, Waterford has hired an RN consultant with whom they have worked for several years to serve as interim director for the transition and onboarding of their new executive director.
The Waterford Communities is made up of three communities that offer assisted-living and memory care to seniors in Lincoln. For more information or to schedule a tour, please call (402) 423-0000, email home@thewaterford.net, or visit www.thewaterford.net.
