Southeast Community College (SCC, www.southeast.edu) President Dr. Paul Illich was recently honored as the District 5 2022 Pacesetter of the Year by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR). This award recognizes a community college president who demonstrated special leadership and support in college communications and marketing over the past year.
“I understand the value of an organization such as NCMPR and the importance of funding and supporting marketing, communications, public relations, and everything within those functions,” Illich said.
Since he first came to SCC eight years ago, the College has undergone multiple transformative initiatives. These include; the conversion from a quarter to semester calendar, adding six learning centers throughout the 15-county service area, and adding 26 new programs, among other things.
The Pacesetter award was presented at the NCMPR’s Annual District 5 Conference in Sioux City, IA last month. Illich is now in the running for the National Pacesetter Award, which will be announced next spring at the national conference in Orlando, FL.
SCC plays a vital role for our communities in southeast Nebraska by bridging the higher education affordability gap and filling a need for a qualified workforce in Nebraska. Find more information about Southeast Community College at www.southeast.edu.
