This year, Wear Yellow Nebraska (www.wearyellownebraska.org) will be participating in Giving Tuesday on November 29. They will be fundraising to support the growth of the Wear Yellow Cab Ride Program to provide transportation to and from treatment for cancer survivors.

In addition, donations to Wear Yellow Nebraska have the opportunity to be matched. Whether you donate $5 or $500, every bit helps towards their $5,000 goal.

As a cancer survivor, co-founder and past president Mike Buckley had the idea to start funding cab rides for cancer patients who were without access to transportation, a need he discovered during his own treatment journey. Access to rides to and from treatment are essential because patients are in a weakened state and often times left unable to drive themselves, which also leaves them vulnerable to lapses in vital medical care. Even if patients do have family and friends who can help, they aren’t always available. Since launching the free cab ride program in 2012, Wear Yellow Nebraska has provided more than 13,500 cab rides to Nebraska cancer patients in need.

Wear Yellow Nebraska is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a clear focus on niche initiatives that offer cancer survivors support in ways that were not being addressed and for people who would otherwise fall through the cracks, truly caring for an individual’s special circumstances.
