The Waterford Communities are care teams serving our residents in Assisted Living or Alzheimer’s/Dementia Memory Care. Our Assisted Living and Memory Care teams provide a variety of Elder Care services, from assistance with typical daily tasks such as regularly scheduled meals with snacks in between, administering medications according to doctors’ orders, and providing laundry and housekeeping up to a very high comprehensive level of care for residents with varying and much higher levels of assisted care or dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. At The Waterford Communities each resident is encouraged to continue to do what they are able, as opposed to focusing on or reminding them of what they cannot do. Owners Dan A. Klein and Dan A. Klein, Jr. are hands-on in their management of each community, while empowering both certified and experienced administrators to lead and further improve service and care for each of our residents so everyone is assured a high level of excellent around-the-clock care.
According to Klein:
What has been your most important achievement as a business? The high compliment from families about our team members regarding the loving care for an elderly family member and of the great appreciation their whole family feels about The Waterford Community
What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced? Finding compassionate, competent, caring, creative and energetic persons who love working with the Elderly.
What was the biggest turning point in your business? When the Lord opened an opportunity for us to build (with our construction company Regal Building Systems) our first assisted living community, then later to build four additional care facilities. Another major turning point was finding our core team of great leaders and care team members.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about your business that most people don’t know? Dan Jr. and Dan Sr. know most all of the residents, many of the family members and all of the team members who work to provide loving care for their residents. The Waterford Communities are locally owned and managed and our leadership team has over 100 years of combined administrative and hands on care with special training in Elder Care.
The Waterford Communities’ care teams are also active in the Lincoln community in a variety of churches and other volunteer organizations. We actively participate in a variety of professional organizations including the Nebraska Assisted Living Association, Nebraska Health Care Association, Nebraska Alzheimer’s Association, Home Builders Association of Lincoln (including past President, Member of the HBAL Board and Executive Committee), Lincoln Independent Business Association and the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.
Mission Focus: “The Waterford Communities offer care from professionals committed to using their God-given talents and strengths in serving the needs of the residents while we help each other grow, so that each person will feel cared for with respect and dignity”. In the next ten years there will be many more Baby Boomers at the age where they will need living assistance in Memory Care or Assisted Living – there is a big bubble coming. Some facilities will try to do more through utilizing technology and we should, but the challenge can be relying too much with the high tech approach while we oversight or decrease our direct relational contact with residents and families. At The Waterford Communities we continue to build on personal and relational touch with both the residents and their families. Our priority is to apply the Golden Rule in all business dealings.” –Owner, Dan Klein
