Meet Connie Hain, Recruiting and Training Director for HOME Real Estate and Woods Bros Realty. During a recent interview, Connie shared the following information based on her experience working with HomeServices of Nebraska for more than a decade.

Give us a brief synopsis of what your company does.

HomeServices of Nebraska takes pride in the fact that we can provide our agents and their clients, with many services under one umbrella. Our company is made up of HOME Real Estate, Woods Bros Realty, Nebraska Land Title and Abstract (NLTA), HomeServices of Nebraska Insurance, and HomeServices Lending. We’re also very strong in the Commercial Real Estate arena.

How long have you been in Lincoln?

Woods Bros Realty has been a part of this community since 1889, and HOME Real Estate has roots going back to 1938.

What do you think makes you different from other companies similar to yours?

Our culture provides every person the opportunity to achieve his or her fullest potential. We value the community, and we care about our clients. We take pride in everything we do and operate with a high level of integrity.

What is one of the biggest challenges that your company has faced?

The task of recruiting new agents who would best represent our company and who are also ready to commit to what it takes to pursue this career does have its challenges. Everyone wants to be a real estate agent until I outline the details of education requirements, the costs associated with getting a real estate license, and the fact that the job is totally commission-based. That’s right: You don’t get paid a thing until someone buys or sells a property with you. Working as a real estate agent can be a very lucrative job. There is no limit to the amount of money you can make if you are committed to doing the things that will make you successful, but it is very hard for most people to “take the leap” and let go of a steady paycheck.

What do you like about doing business in Lincoln?

It’s an amazing city that’s always growing and changing, with plenty of opportunity while not losing its strong sense of community.

What kind of community organizations/groups are you involved with?

The HomeServices of Nebraska family is very involved in our community. We believe in giving back and supporting the people who choose us when buying or selling a home. Whether it is Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, Foundation for Giving, or others, I can guarantee you will see HOME Real Estate or Woods Bros Realty involvement.

What changes have you seen in the industry and your company in the past few years?

I’ve been with HomeServices of Nebraska for over 14 years. During that time, I have seen many changes in the economy. Along with changes in the economy come changes in the real estate market, but the “Circle of Life” continues, and there seems to always be a need or want for The American Dream – Home Ownership. Maybe we have HGTV to thank for that?

What do you see happening with the business in the next five years?

We have 397 agents who are the best in the business, along with over 206 years of combined experience between HOME Real Estate and Woods Bros Realty. No one knows what the future holds, but I can only guess that HomeServices of Nebraska will continue to grow and prosper as it has in the past.
