Tell us a little about your business.

Sumner Place provides resident-focused care, independence, and a home-like atmosphere. We have three households, including Memory Support. We work hard to create a living environment that continuously enriches each resident’s life.

How did you get started in the business?

I actually started off as the people development coordinator at Sumner Place in 2015, overseeing our hiring and recruitment. At the time, I was in search of a job that combined my HR/recruiting background and also my passion for direct care. Finding that role was the absolute perfect opportunity for me. In April 2020, I became the Administrator.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?

Transitioning into my role as administrator in April of this year, in the middle of a pandemic.

What has been your most important achievement professionally?

Becoming a Licensed Administrator.

Tell us a little about your family.

My husband Josh and I have been married for five years. We actually met on Tinder! We got married on our one-year anniversary of dating in Seattle, WA (our favorite city). We have a daughter, Mila, who is a little sassy (like her mom), but she is such an incredibly happy girl. We have two dogs: John Wayne and Harvey Spector. I am super fortunate that my husband enjoys cooking, because I am a horrible cook. He also does the dishes; I’m a lucky wife! Please note that I do all the laundry in our house.

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?

Enjoy coffee outside, attend church, read a book, and take a long nap with no alarms set. I’d end the day with a glass of Moscato.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?

I’ve been skydiving a few times. I actually considered becoming certified and making it a consistent hobby!

Who inspires you?

Dave Ramsey. My husband and I are extremely passionate about teaching Financial Peace University.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

“Live like no one else so later you can live and give like no one else.” – Dave Ramsey

If you could have a super power, what would it be?

Flying.

What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life?

I’m exceptional at doing laundry at home and, honestly, I love doing it.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?

Photographer.

What local nonprofit organization(s) are you passionate about or involved with, and are there any special reasons why?

I am passionate about the Special Olympics. I have a sister with special needs so, growing up, I would always attend her events and volunteer at them.

What is your favorite movie?

Jurassic Park and Jurassic World.

What is your favorite TV show?

Grey’s Anatomy. I’ve also gotten into The Bachelor and The Bachelorette this year!

What is your favorite local restaurant?

LeadBelly. I love their macaroni and cheese with blackened chicken.
