Sam’s Club (Samsclub.com) is a membership-only retail warehouse. Chris Dunning is the marketing lead for Lincoln Sam’s Club.
Tell us a little about your business.
At Sam’s Club, we offer a variety of products, such as electronics, office, home, furniture, auto, patio and garden supplies, children’s accessories, grocery, fresh meats and vegetables, bakery, pet supplies, health and beauty, jewelry, toys, sporting goods, and also pharmacy and optical departments. In other words, we can help you with just about any need you may have!
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally?
Finding the perfect balance between home and work life. I tend to really dive deep into my work and sometimes it gets to be a little too much, which spills over into my home life. Finding ways to keep that separate has really helped me and my family.
What has been your most important achievement professionally?
Being able to move up through the ranks based on my hard work and dedication.
Tell us a little about your family.
I have a very busy household. I’m married to my best friend Alicia. We have four children, two girls and two boys. Additionally, we have two cats and one dog.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life?
Meeting my better half. She helps me by keeping me focused and she is always very supportive.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off?
Spending time with my family and also grilling! I love to grill.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know?
I’m an amazing cook! You name it, I can most likely make it.
Who inspires you?
Definitely my family. It would be difficult to pinpoint one individual. I get a lot of inspiration from my wife and her ability to multi-task, owning a business and also raising our kids.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
If you want to change your results, change your perception.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be?
Indefatigable.
If you had a theme song, what would it be?
“Eye of the Tiger” by Survivor.
If you could have a super power, what would it be?
Having all of Superman’s super powers! Although, Batman’s “super rich” super power would be okay too.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be?
Politics. I have always been fascinated with the idea of being a strong voice for my family, friends, neighbors, and community.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read?
Mystic River by Dennis Lehane.
What is your favorite movie?
Ready Player One.
What is your favorite local restaurant?
Hacienda Real! I always go with the Don Juan Platter. Their grilled skirt steak is also phenomenal.
If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be?
Actor, Anthony Hopkins.
