After getting his degree from Nebraska Wesleyan in 2007, Chris Vasek was hired at NAI FMA Realty as a Sales Associate. He began his career during one of the most difficult times for commercial real estate all while being one of the youngest in his field. Despite the challenges, he has successfully continued to grow his business and recently celebrated his 5th anniversary with the company. At NAI FMA Realty, Chris brings together buyers and sellers of commercial property as well as working with tenants and landlords to facilitate lease negotiations, site selection and building management.
Tell us a little about your family. – My wife Brandie and I have been married for almost a year. We have a three-year-old Golden Retriever named Jack.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Getting married!
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – If we are not at a Husker sporting event of some kind, we are usually at the lake or socializing with our friends.
What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that most people probably don’t know? – I enjoy singing…usually at church, home or in the car. Every once and awhile a karaoke song or two J
What are you the most proud of? – While it is fun to bring new national businesses to Lincoln, I am most proud and get the most reward out of helping startup companies take an idea and bring it to fruition.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – This question is tough as my Grandfather, and now my Dad, always had quotes, sayings, or even poems to fit every situation growing up. If I had to narrow it down to one it would be, “True character is defined by what you do when no one else is watching.”
What is the one goal you would most like to accomplish? – Every year I set goals and this year the one I would most like to accomplish is passing the Broker’s exam.
How would your friends describe you? – Initially, probably LOUD, stubborn, and often fashionably late. But, I feel they would also be quick to say I am fun to be around, honest, a leader, and someone they can always count on.
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – I am a fantastic cook.
Which talent would you most like to have? – I would love to learn how to play the guitar.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? – Patience…and more twitter followers (haha)….@chrisvasek. Try it out!
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – I am a huge Tolkien/Lord of the Rings nerd, so all of those books, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be The Hobbit.
What is your favorite movie? – Dumb and Dumber, Man on a Wire, Shawshank Redemption, The Usual Suspects, Lord of the Rings – Return of the King,… I could keep going.
What is your favorite TV show? – Right now my wife and I are really into Game of Thrones on HBO.
What is your favorite Lincoln restaurant? – Blue Orchid
