Meet Christopher Vernon Clements, the senior account manager at ServiceMaster PBM of Lincoln.

Tell us a little about your business. – ServiceMaster PBM (www.smpbm.com) is the premiere commercial cleaning and sanitizing service in Lincoln and Lancaster County. We clean all types of buildings, from offices to industrial factories to healthcare facilities and more. ServiceMaster has been proudly serving the community and enhancing the appearance of local businesses since 1990.

How did you get started in the business? – I was hired in 2012 to manage the project division and have worked in almost every area of the business in the last 10 years.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Maintaining high standards while understaffed. We had a lack of employees due to COVID and it challenged all of us.

What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Leading a team that pulls together to get the job done every night.

Tell us a little about your family. – I have an amazing wife and two wonderful kids, ages 21 and 23. My wife is an activities director at The Independence House where she assists Alzheimer’s and dementia patients. I was raised by my parents and my aunt Carmen to treat all people as equals, to never give up, and that family always comes first.

What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – Becoming a father, hands down!

What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Spend time with my family.

Who inspires you? – My older brother Andy Clements. He has always been one to fight against the current and live life on his terms. He is amazingly intelligent and has overcome amazing obstacles. He has shown me that no matter what task lies ahead, the only way to accomplish it is to knuckle down and get it done.

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – “Life is like a river, sometimes you just have to sit back and float with the current.” – Bruce Fischer

If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Dependable.

If you had a theme song, what would it be? – “Vacation” by the Dirty Heads. The song talks about having fun in your work and treating every day as a vacation, and if the place you work at isn’t conducive to that, then you’re in the wrong place. Luckily, while not every day feels like a vacation, I find more do than don’t at ServiceMaster thanks to the amazing co-workers and the atmosphere Jon and Angela Paolini have fostered as owners of the franchise.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – Engineering.

What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton.

What is your favorite movie? – Idiocracy, one of the most prophetic movies ever made.

What is your favorite TV show? – M*A*S*H.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – Daffodil’s.

If you could have dinner with one famous person from the past or present, who would it be? – George Carlin.
