Meet Christy Michel, senior advisor/community liaison at Oasis Senior Advisors.

Tell us a little about your business. – At Oasis Senior Advisors, we assist seniors and families in finding the senior living solution that is the right fit for them. We will be with them every step of the way to make the process simple and easy. We provide in depth consultations to identify personal preferences, discuss funding options to keep monthly housing costs low, provide a personalized list of housing options, we tour preferred communities with our clients, help coordinate the move in process, and provide any necessary resources along the way! Best of all, this service is free for our seniors and families.

How did you get started in the business? – I have been involved in the senior industry for five years with a background in hospice and memory care. When Oasis Senior Advisors expanded their Lincoln team, it was the perfect opportunity for me to combine my experience and my passion for helping seniors and their families and has been the perfect fit, both professionally and personally.

What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – COVID and the recent staffing shortage has presented a challenge when working with families experiencing a crisis and time is of the essence in moving their loved one somewhere safe and providing them peace of mind. We’ve been fortunate in working with the senior living communities to “think outside of the box” and find alternative solutions that maybe weren’t a necessity prior to COVID.

Tell us a little about your family. – My husband and I have two sons who are both very active in baseball and football, and two dogs, an English Bulldog and a French Bulldog who keep us laughing! When we aren’t traveling for baseball or football games, we love to spend time with our family and friends relaxing, playing games, and watching movies.

What is the most unique or interesting thing about you that people don’t know? – Several years ago, my best friend and I visited my brother who was living in New York at the time and had tickets to the Jimmy Fallon show. I volunteered us to “dance back up” on risers during their surprise musical guest’s appearance, who turned out to be Prince!

What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you have ever received? – “If your dreams don’t scare you, they aren’t big enough.” – Muhammad Ali

If you could choose one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Kind.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be? – I would LOVE to be in two different places at one time while still being present while there. With two sons playing the same sports, it makes it difficult to be at every game for both of them, and it crushes me when I can’t be there cheering them and their teammates on.

If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I love animals and always dreamed of being a zookeeper!

What is your favorite movie? – This is a tough question because we love movies. It’s a tie between The Sandlot and Good Will Hunting.

What is your favorite local restaurant? – I am passionate about supporting local so my list is long, but at the top would be Muchachos, La Paz, Fortune Palace, Las Margaritas, Buzzard Billy’s, and Honest Abe’s.
