Meet Cody Dunham, the founder/president at ArcLight Solutions (www.arclightsolutions.net).
Tell us a little about your business. – ArcLight is a technology services company offering IT consultation, managed services and data center solutions.
How did you get started in the business? – Ten years ago, a mentor of mine took a chance on me even though I didn’t have formal training or schooling in the IT industry. This person gave me an opportunity and I ran with it.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced professionally? – Just starting a business is tough. The biggest obstacle after getting started is keeping your business above water. ArcLight Solutions was established in 2018, so we’ve made it though the infamously tough first three years and are continuing to grow.
What has been your most important achievement professionally? – Getting to a point where I can have a team of employees and not only provide for my own family, but my employees’ families that are directly affected by my business.
Tell us a little about your family. – I’m married to my wife Anna, and we have a soon-to-be two year old little girl. Our other baby is a 90lb golden doodle named Walter.
What do you see as one of the biggest turning points in your life? – This is a two-fold answer for me. I was extremely fortunate to meet individuals that have taken me under their wing to mentor me. In addition to that, a huge life-changing moment for me was when my mentor gave me the opportunity to go on a different path than I was on.
What is your favorite thing to do on a day off? – Hang out with the fam and friends! I also love to play golf and watch football. I’m a diehard Packers fan.
Who inspires you? – A multitude of different people have had different impacts on my life in different ways. My mentors encourage me to take leaps. My father and of course my wife and daughter inspire me every day.
What is your favorite quote or the best piece of advice you’ve ever received? – My favorite quote is, “If you quit once it becomes a habit, never quit.” – Michael Jordan.
If you could choose only one descriptive word to be remembered as, what would it be? – Determined
What is your greatest talent that you don’t utilize in your daily work life? – Probably my knowledge of the auto industry.
If you could choose any other profession to be successful in, what would it be? – I could see myself doing something in auto or in sports.
What is your favorite book or the last good book you read? – Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey – I highly recommend it, especially the audio book version since Matthew narrates it.
What is your favorite movie? – Friday Night Lights.
What is your favorite local restaurant? – ShillingBridge Cork & Tap House.
